Jim Hanley’s Universe

Back in the 1990′s and early 2000′s, Jim Hanley’s Universe was where I

went to gaze at not only all the great stuff I wanted to buy, but also

the awesome stuff I wanted to create. It’s hard to believe that I am

now a part of this comic shop’s story like it has been a part in mine,

literally. Jim Hanley’s Universe is a part of Street Comics history.

Jim Hanley’s is the first US comics shop to buy any of my books. This

goes back to when I was doing my Burnside mini-comics.  This kind of

support is crucial for someone starting out.  It makes you realize,

this shop is special.

The reason this shop is so different is the staff.  Starting up top

with Nick Purpura and Ron Hill, who are now the co-owners.

I was in New York this October as I usually am for the New York Comic

Con.  Before, during and after the Con you could catch me in Hanley’s

chipping away on my murals.

Then Hurricane Sandy took the wind out of our sails.

We had something special planned for the Monday that it hit. Needless

to say, it was the least of our worries. That project will have to be put on hold till I return.

Till then, stop by and check out my murals and the other great comics

in the store.

Durante os anos 90, eu ia nessa loja de HQ para olhar não só as coisas

maravilhosas que eu queria comprar, mas também as que eu um dia queria fazer. É difícil

acreditar que hoje eu faço parte da história da loja como ela faz parte

da minha. Jim Hanley’s Universe entrou na história do Street Comics.

Jim Hanley’s é a primera loja americana que comprou meus livros quando

eu o lançei. É assim desde que fiz os zines do Burnside. Esse tipo de

apoio é crucial para alguém començando.  Faz você perceber que esse lugar é especial.

O que faz a diferença é a equipe da loja.  Començando pelo topo, com

Nick Purpura e Ron HIll, que agora são os novos sócios da loja.

Eu estava em Nova York em Outubro para participar da New York Comic Con.

Você podia me achar na loja pintando todo dia antes, durante e depois da

convenção.

Aí chegou o furacão Sandy. Estragou os planos de um projeto muito

legal que marcamos para o dia que a tempestade chegou.

Essa parte vai ter que esperar até eu voltar.

Enquanto isso não acontece, vocês podem ir lá e curtir não só meus muros, mas todos os HQs

excelentes que eles tem.
